I think that this was a very persuasive and inspiring pamphlet. I think that Thomas Paine explained and made his purpose of this essay very clear. He told the Americans to not be oppressed by the British and encouraged the Americans to be brave and fight back. In addition, he also mentioned that God would be on their side. I thought that it was interesting that Paine described soldiers as summer and patriots as sunshine. I think that it was appropriate because it symbolizes how these people were only there for the good times. The British oppressed the colonists very badly and I agree that the colonies should join together and fight back. Also, I think that this quote was very inspiring, “Well! Give me peace in my day.” I thought that it was inspiring because this quote was spoken from a father who was holding a child in his hands, who was eight or nine years old. Paine said that “and a generous parent should have said, ‘If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.’” I agree with Paine, I think that a good father should have fought for their rights and give their children peace in the next generation. In conclusion, this was very inspiring!
